Programs that provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to obtain academic, vocational and/or independent living skills instruction at the postsecondary level with the objective of participating in college classes, improving their social and communication skills, enhancing their independence and employability, forming friendships with their peers, developing age-appropriate recreational and leisure pursuits and/or meeting other individualized objectives which reflect their interests and goals.   • Resource Library: Think College creates and curates a variety of resources on topics related to postsecondary education for people with intellectual disability.
  • Family Resources: Information about planning, preparing, and applying for college.

Eligibility:

Ages 18-23, students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Services Provided:

Provides a four year postsecondary curriculum of study to students with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

Services Include:

  • Person Centered Planning
  • Support staff attends the class with the student
  • Additional assistance through a two hour support class.
  • Work specialty area. Most students are placed on-campus with a support staff member in their first year and gradually they have the opportunity to explore off campus placements.
  • Students live on and off campus.
Provider Profiles:

Students completing their four years with the Mason LIFE Program will graduate with a George Mason Certificate of Completion with a catalog concentration and a work specialty area.
